Caloocan plans to put a web of security cameras in the different parts of the city to increase its visibility of police and improve its disaster response. In a statement, the local government began identifying key areas where to install the closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras. Videos will be viewed at a command center being constructed, which will be operational 24/7. The command center is intended to serve as a nerve center where the city would coordinate dispatch of emergency teams, surveillance of crime-prone areas and monitoring of alarms. The city government hopes that the network, once the setup is fully in place, would help authorities to bring down the crime rate, facilitate the identification of suspects, and address traffic problems, among other objectives.
