They preyed on travel agencies.
“On Tuesday, Jan 21, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) CyberCrime Division arrested two suspected Nigerian hackers at a travel agency in Novaliches, Quezon City,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
One of the suspects, who is identified as Babatunde Disunmu, reportedly owns the travel agency. But then again, the said travel agency is most likely not legit.
According to the NBI, Disunmu and his partner “allegedly hacked online accounts to divert payments from other travel agencies to their own account.” The report reveals that they’ve earned at least PHP500,000 from the scheme.
Disunmu has denied the hacking accusation. The NBI is not buying his pleas and will charge him and his partner for violating the country’s E-Commerce Act.
