A father and son suspected to be notorious kidnappers were killed by the authorities last night in the village of Dulong Bayan in Teresa, Rizal.

Cops arrived at the home of suspects Rodel Basi and his son Romar Basi to serve a search warrant but the two allegedly peppered them with gunshots, the Philippine National Police announced today. The authorities shot back in self-defense, killing the suspects in the process. Another son of Rodel, who was unidentified, was also arrested by the police.

Members of the Basi family were reportedly stopped from entering the crime scene and saw the bodies of the suspects about five hours after the first shots broke out, reported ABS-CBN News. Most of the bullet wounds were reportedly found on the suspects’ head and chest area. Rodel’s wife said that her husband lived a quiet life.

The authorities alleged, however, that the two were involved in the kidnapping of Indian nationals, as well as robbery, murder, homicide, and were working as guns-for-hire. Seized from the suspects were a shotgun, a 9 MM pistol, and a cal .45 pistol.
