It was literally a “good cop, bad cop” situation.
“Police Officer 1 Reniel Abogado—who was allegedly involved in kidnap for ransom and car theft activities—was killed in a shootout with fellow policemen in Quezon City on Monday, Jan 27,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.
According to Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano, the encounter started when a car was stolen by Abogado at the corner of Regalado and Dahlia streets in Fairview at around 3:30am.
The report then revealed that “policemen following-up the incident chanced upon and traded shots with Abogado.” Police recovered a .45 pistol from the suspect.
And, yes, the irony of the suspect’s last name is hard to ignore.
