It’s a milestone for Maguindanao.
Maguindanao Governor Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu said that all is set for President Rodrigo Duterte’s visit to the province on Fri, Jul 22.
Mangudadatu said, though, that they kept their preparations simple. “We were told that the President just wanted simple and subdued welcome program,” he explained.
He added, “There will be decorations of course, that is our culture, the surroundings will be colorful,” he said of the venue where Duterte will set foot as he embarks on his second provincial visit since becoming the country’s Chief Executive.
Duterte, the first Mindanaoan to become President, will visit Basilan on Thu, Jul 21, and proceed to Maguindanao on Fri, Jul 22.
“It only shows Duterte’s heart for Moro people and in fulfillment of his campaign promise to return to Maguindanao and push for development,” Mangudadatu added in the vernacular.
While in the town of Buluan, Duterte will unveil and inaugurate the first Muslim-built power plant expected to ease power woes in Maguindanao.
The family of the provincial governor who belongs to an influential Muslim clan built the 4.5-megawatt bio-mass power plant in Buluan, using bio-mass materials from Maguindanao’s oil palm farms.
While the power plant has been repeatedly tested last week, its inauguration will be led by President Duterte.
Mangudadatu said the President wants to see how the bio-mass plant operates, how cost-effective it is and how it can be applied to other parts of the country.
The plant inauguration program will start at 1pm. —Philippine News Agency (PNA)
