All hail King James

LeBron James’ first trip to the Philippines started yesterday when he arrived by private jet. The two-time NBA champion kicked off his one-day “Witness History” tour today by answering questions fired at him by host Boom Gonzales at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City.

“This is very overwhelming. I can’t believe this is my first time here. Definitely, it’s not going to be my last,” he said.

James will also visit Nike Park’s flagship store at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig before heading to the Malls of Asia Arena.

Last week, thousands of basketball fans camped outside Nike’s flagship store in the pouring rain hoping to get a ticket to see their hero.

James’ visit to Manila marks the start of an influx of NBA stars to the country over the coming months. Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakers will visit in August, 2011 MVP Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls will arrive in September, Dwight Howard and James Harden of the Houston Rockets and fast-rising star Paul George of the Indiana Pacers will take part in the first ever NBA pre season game in Southeast Asia when the Rockets and Pacers play each other on October 10 at the MOA Arena, reported the Inquirer.
