The cook saved the day.
Quick thinking Tommy Nakpil, a cook at Gerry’s Grill restaurant at Blue Wave, Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City, prevented a massive kitchen fire at his workplace.
While preparing ingredients at around 9 a.m, Tommy noticed that hot oil had spilled over from the wok, causing a fire. He hurriedly took out a burning wok to keep the fire from spreading. In the process, the cook sustained third degree burns on the face and the body. He was brought to the San Juan de Dios Hospital for treatment.
