Airport chief admits to falling for text scam

Maybe he shouldn’t have admitted to it. Then again, he isn’t the first or the only person to have been fooled by text scammers.

“Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) general manager Angel Honrado confided to members of the weekly media forum Bulong Pulungan sa Sofitel Hotel in Pasay City that he once lost PHP500 worth of load to an unidentified text scammer,” reports Perseus Echeminada in The Philippine Star.

Honrado related, “When I followed the instruction I got a text reply that I successfully passed on PHP500 worth of load to the text sender.”

Honrado said he got similar messages from the same number again. On the third time, he reported the number to the telecommunications company.

But, yes, Honrado gave away PHP500 to a text scammer.
