Ahead of UAAP Final, Tigers fan uploads rah-rah viral video

Today is the day for UST Growling Tigers and Far Eastern University Tamaraws fans. The two men’s basketball teams will fight it out for the UAAP Season 78 championship.

The best-of-three series starts at 3:30pm at Mall of Asia Arena and will air live on ABS-CBN Sports+Action channel 23 and Balls HD channel 195.

To inspire his university’s team, marketing student Russel Pua yesterday uploaded “Road to Redemption: No Heart, No Chance,” a rah-rah video for the España cagers and their fans.

“Five years na akong student at laging heartbreak ‘yung (basketball season). I did this video to inspire others to support the Tigers,” Pua told Coconuts Manila.

The video begins with missed shots, turnovers and fouls committed by the Growling Tigers this season, followed by footage of a supportive Thomasian crowd and a montage of UST’s winning moments in matches against Ateneo, Adamson and University of the East.

“For almost a decade, we are trying to reign supreme. This Season 78, we will bring back the crown to España,” it says in the video.

The last time Growing Tigers won the UAAP men’s basketball championship was in 2006, while FEU enjoyed its last victory in 2005.

The two last met in the UAAP Finals 36 years ago where FEU won.
