How many more of these probes do we have to endure?
“Brigadier General Normando Sta. Ana Jr.—the chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Medical Center—has been relieved from his post over the allegedly anomalous procurement of millions worth of medicines and supplies,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
The report noted: “Sta. Ana and his staff have been accused of buying PHP80 million worth of medicine and medical equipment without any bidding. The complainant alleged that the medicine and other medical supplies were bought from favored suppliers.”
Armed Forces public affairs chief Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc explained that Sta. Ana Ana’s deputy will temporarily be designated as the officer-in-charge of AFP Medical Center.
The report added that “Cabunoc said Sta. Ana should be presumed innocent while the investigation done by the AFP’s Office of the Ethical Standards and Public Accountability is ongoing.”
Cabunoc also announced that “the result of the probe will be immediately made available to the public.”
