If you’re the Vice President of a company as large as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), you’d be driving around the city in a fancy car or have someone drive it for you. Not ADB Vice President for Finance and Risk Management Thierry de Longuemar.
This expat is making his contribution to sustainable transport by taking the MRT to and from work everyday. He says that he does this for his health too as walking 20 minutes to and from the station everyday makes up for his cardio exercise.
“In the early morning it’s not too hot, not too polluted, so I enjoy the walking,” the ADB official says. Secondly, de Longuemar adds that he doesn’t like the idea of being stuck in traffic by himself.
What he and the rest of the ADB No Impact team is doing is truly admirable. How we wish that government and cabinet officials would do the same, even for just a few days.
