Many Pinoy actors and actresses establish alternative careers in an industry that’s somewhat similar to showbiz. One such actress is Angelika dela Cruz, who is running for barangay chairman in Malabon City.
But she may just stick to showbiz after she was attacked while she was doing a house-to-house campaign last Saturday, October 19.
“Dela Cruz was walking along Martiniko and Maya-Maya streets just before 6 p.m. when Pedro Becondado, who was reported to be drunk, tried to stab her from behind,” reports Rey Galupo in The Philippine Star.
Fortunately, one of Dela Cruz’s supporters was able to prevent Becondado from hurting Dela Cruz. It was Becondado who got stabbed instead.
Becondado, who was rushed to the Tondo Medical Center, is now handcuffed to his hospital bed. Nevertheless, Dela Cruz has filed charges against him for attempted murder and violating stipulations in the Omnibus Election Code.
According to the report, Dela Cruz “decided to run for chairman of Barangay Longos in lieu of her father, who was dismissed in May by the Office of the Ombudsman for graft.”
