Actor Dennis Roldan convicted for 2005 kidnapping case

For him, this must be one hell of a plot twist.

“The Pasig City Regional Trial Court on Tuesday, August 26, found actor and former Quezon City representative Dennis Roldan guilty of kidnapping a three-year-old boy in 2005,” reports Camille Diola on Philstar.com.

The local court’s Branch 167 convicted Roldan (real name: Mitchell Gumabao)—along with co-accused Adrian Domingo and Rowena San Andres—for abducting the Filipino-Chinese boy.

Roldan, who has been out on bail since he was charged nine years ago, has been ordered detained at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

In past interviews about the kidnapping, Roldan, who also happens to be a Christian minister, denied the charges. He claimed that he was mistaken for another suspect.

However, as the report noted, “a witness from a telecommunications company, however, testified that Roldan’s mobile phone contained messages from the victim’s mother pleading the kidnappers to accept the PHP2.6 million ransom as they would not be able to raise the PHP200 million ransom demand.”

Roldan’s most recent showbiz gig was in the GMA Network series My Destiny, which premiered last June.
