After reading this story, how can anyone still think that the Abu Sayyaf Group are not our enemies?
On Mon afternoon, Aug 29, news broke out that 15 soldiers had been killed in Jolo’s forested Patikul municipality.
Mila Falcasantos knew that her son, Jison, a private first class in the Army’s 35th Infantry Battalion, was in that area.
She was worried and wanted to make sure he was safe, so she sent him a text message at 5:40pm that day.
“Son, [ku]musta jan,” she wrote. (“Son, how is it there?”)
Mila didn’t get a reply until 6:44am the next day.
But it was not Jison.
Most likely it was from an Abu Sayyaf member, who texted, “Patay na ang son mu, wala na ang ulo niya, pinutulan na namin ng ulo kahapon,” according to Philippine Daily Inquirer. (“Your son is dead, we beheaded him yesterday.”)
Stunned and enraged, Mila had texted back, “Wala kayong konsensya.” (“You have no conscience.”)
She then got this reply: “Talaga wala kaming konsensya dahil nagpunta sila dito sa lugar namin pati ikaw puputulan din kita ng ulo.”
(“We really we don’t have any conscience because they were the ones who came to our territory. I will cut off your head, too.”)
Sadly, it was later confirmed that Jison was one of the 15 soldiers killed in the Aug 29 clash in Patikul, Jolo.
