Esquire Philippines most definitely opened the month of September with a banging jam. Along with that incredible cover are two new songs called “Sabado” and “1995,” which come in a CD-insert in the September issue of the magazine. The songs sound as organic and as real as the ones the band put out back in, well, 1995.

As though that’s not enough, the magazine one-upped itself during its launch party Thursday night at the Mayuree Ballroom of Dusit. After showing the behind-the-scenes video, as well as the music video of “Sabado,” after the cheers and the jeers, the Eraserheads took the stage for a surprise jam. The band performed three songs.
The band opened with “Magasin” followed by “Sembreak” and closed with, of course, “Alapaap.”
“This is not the Eraserheads,” said Raimund Marasigan before the band launched into “Sembreak.” “This is Pupil. This is Sandwich. This is The Dawn. This is Marcus Highway!”
The cover was shot in London last April when the band performed a one-night-only show at the Hammersmith. It was shot by Jake Verzosa. The story was written by Esquire’s Editor-in-Chief Erwin Romulo.
