Abaya rides the MRT, netizens not impressed

To fulfill the vow he made, Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Jun Abaya rode the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT 3) on Thursday.

But then his experience hardly compares to the hell that ordinary MRT riders have to go through.

For starters, Abaya rode the train at around 1pm, which is definitely not the hour of MRT chaos. Abaya also had an entourage with him—presumably some members of his staff and some reporters.

ABS-CBN News correspondent Jacque Manabat, who covered Abaya’s MRT ride, was then asked if the DOTC Secretary rode at the front of the train. To which she tweeted, “Yes, he rode at the front.”

The person who had asked the question, former Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal then pointed out: “That’s for the elderly, disabled, pregnant, women, senior citizens, and toddlers.”

“Netizens immediately took to social media to react to Abaya’s decision to ride the MRT,” Manabat reported on ABS-CBNnews.com.

And their reactions were mostly bordering on annoyed and insulted. Let’s just say they were NOT impressed by Abaya’s non-realistic MRT ride.
