10 Pinoys make it to first-ever Forbes ’30 Under 30 Asia’ list

Ten Filipinos made it to Forbes Magazine’s first-ever 30 Under 30 Asia list, released just this morning.

There were 30 names picked for each of the ten categories, which ranged from entertainment and sports to healthcare and science.

The list features young innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders across Asia who are under 30 years of age and are transforming business, technology, industry, media, culture and more.

Without further ado:

1.  Charice Pempengco, singer, 23, for Entertainment and Sports 

2 & 3: Xyza Cruz Bacani, photographer, 29, and Ronson Culibrina, artist, 24, for The Arts

4. Koh Martinez Onozawa, founder of LoudBasstard, 26, for Retail and E-commerce

5. Rachel de Villa, 23, for Finance and Venture Capital

6. Valenice Balace, 27, founder of dating app Peekawoo, for Consumer Tech

7 & 8: Raphael Mijeno, 28, and Henry Motte- Munoz, 28, for Social Enterpreneurs

9. Leandro Leviste, 22, for Manufacturing:

10. Amin Hataman, 15, for Healthcare & Science

The youngest Filipino in the list is Hataman, from Mindanao, who invented biodegradable bags made from a coconut by-product that disintegrates after several days, according to Forbes. Onozawa, from Cebu, created music amplifiers using bamboo.

Leviste, son of Senator Loren Legarda and ex-husband Antonio Leviste, runs Solar Philippines, which aims to provide solar power to the Philippines.

According to Forbes, the criteria for honorees making the list included leadership and disruption in their field; entrepreneurial mind-set and results; and the likelihood of changing their field over the next half-century.
