If you see more soldiers than usual in the metro, don’t be alarmed. Those with coup d’etat phobia, relax.
“Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) public affairs chief Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said 861 soldiers have been deployed to Metro Manila to help in poll-related duties such as manning checkpoints, conducting visibility patrols, establishing assistance desks, and securing vital installations and voting centers,” reports Philstar.com.
The soldiers, who will provide support to the Philippine National Police (PNP), were deployed on Monday, October 21. They’ll be sticking around until next Wednesday, Oct 30.
