A man named Eduardo Roxas, 75, was nabbed after residents of Mangaldan and Manaoag in Pangasinan found out that he wasn’t really a priest.
“In fact, Roxas had claimed that he was a bishop and he had even said mass in some churches in the said areas,” reports Umagang Kay Ganda.
There are photos of Roxas giving blessings or praying over people. Naturally, the people gave him cash donations.
However, some residents questioned his identity and decided to check with the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP). They were floored when CBCP representatives told them that Roxas wasn’t even on the list of Catholic priests.
The residents whom Roxas duped decided not to file a case against him after he promised that he would not do it again.
