7 Things we’re excited to watch in 2017

2017 is lookin’ pretty good. Check out our list of awesome shows and concerts that we’re excited about in the months to come.

1. Wicked

The Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good are back in town! The Broadway and West End musical phenomenon Wicked is scheduled to have a special limited engagement at the Theater Solaire from Feb 2 to March 5. Wicked first premiered in Manila in 2014, and it received rave reviews during its seven-week run. Feb 2 -Mar 5. Theater Solaire, 1 Aseana Avenue, Entertainment City
Paranaque City; Ticketworld. PHP1750 to 7000

2. Miss Universe

We hate so see Queen P end her reign, but we’re excited about the other confidently beautiful contestants who will fly (or are already) to the country for the much-awaited Miss Universe competition. It’s actually quite surprising that tickets to the coronation night are still available online, but we won’t be surprised if they get sold out soon. Jan 30. SM Mall of Asia; Tickets. PHP2,000- PHP50,000

3. Coldplay

One of the lucky few who were able to score tickets? Well, the concert that left you bankrupt is finally happenning soon. Manila is just one of the stops in the groups Asian tour. Chris Martin and co will also drop by  Singapore, Taiwan, Seoul, Bangkok, and Tokyo. As for the rest of us who weren’t able to score seats, we’ll just have to wait (a lifetime?) for the well-loved band’s next concert. Apr 4. SM Mal of Asia Concert Grounds. SOLD OUT.

4. Sa Wakas

The musical tied together by wSugarfree songs is back after nearly four years. Sa Wakas tells a heartbreaking story about love and relationships, starting fro the very end. The story has a very fresh take on relationships. If you listen to Ebe Dancel and his heartbreaking songs, then you have a pretty good idea of what a cryfest this is. The opening night was awesome, BTW. Jan 12- Feb 15. Power Mac Center, Circuit Makati; Facebook. PHP700 – PHP1500

5. Goo Goo Dolls in Manila

Admit it, nineties kid, you were (are?) a fan. The American alternative rock group is best known for the hit “Iris” from the Hollywood blockbuster City of Angels is going to be in town in Feb, and if you’re in the mood for a throwback, then you better get your tickets. Feb 11. Smart Areneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City. Tickets. PHP 1200 – PHP7000

6. Wanderland

We all know that Wanderland is not just about the music. It’s about the complete experience. This year’s line-up looks amazing. Who to expect? Temper Trap, Yuna, Explosions in the sky, and out very own Up Dharma Down. Sounds amazing! Mar 4. FIlinvest City Event Grounds, Alabang CIty. Tickets. PHP5500

7. Noli me Tangere Opera

Yes, you studied this in high school. No, this is not going to be boring. Follow the love story of Crisostomo Ibarra and Maria Clara in this theatrical production with a 53-piece orchestra. Really, our National Hero’s 1887 masterpiece sends a strong message about patriotism and Philippine society, and frankly we all need a refresher course on that. Starts Jan 28. Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo, CCP Main Theater, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay. Tickets. PHP1,030 – PHP3,605
