The things you allegedly did in 2011 may come back to haunt you.
“In a September 13 order, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales ordered the six-month suspension of the following Navotas City officials: city administrator Perfecto Cruz Jr., planning and development officer Rufino Serrano, general services officer Cesar Flores, legal officer Emmanuel Pantoja, city engineer Miguel Serrano Jr., city budget officer Susana Gonzales, and city treasurer Manuel Enriquez,” reports Rey Galupo in The Philippine Star.
The seven officials were called out for “alleged irregularities in the procurement of materials for a mass wedding sponsored by the city government in 2011.” In particular, a complaint had been filed by Jose and Cristina Ruiz, owners of the Angat Navotas General Merchandise, on March 29, 2011.
The Ruizes were one of the suppliers bidding to provide materials or services the mass wedding. They had alleged that the seven officials were were involved in the falsification of documents and grave misconduct.
According to the report, Navotas Mayor John Rey Tiangco “carried out the suspension order” on the day he received the order.
