Anyone interested in contraband garlic?
“After seizing 670,000 kilograms of smuggled garlic and declaring them fit for human consumption, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced on Monday, August 18, that it would sell them through public auction,” reports Raymund F. Antonio in Manila Bulletin.
The report noted: “In a Notice of Public Auction Sale, the BOC announced that it would bid out the PHP33.8-million worth of imported garlic from China on August 26 at the Manila International Container Port (MICP).”
The garlic shipments arrived last June. They will be available for viewing on Aug. 22.
The BOC also reminded everyone that “the garlic shipment shall only be released after the fumigation procedure is completed at the winning bidder’s warehouse.”
