“Some 6,000 tikoys will be distributed at Plaza San Ruiz in Binondo, Manila starting 1pm on Thursday, Jan 30,” reports Jenny F. Manongdo in the Manila Bulletin.
The tikoy explosion will be followed by a parade featuring 10 “dragons” and 100 “lions.” The parade will end at the Lucky Chinatown Mall.
Then, from 9pm to 11pm, a solidarity dinner will be held at Lido de Paris on Ongpin street. City government officials like Mayor Erap Estrada and business leaders are expected to be in attendance.
The dinner will be followed by a musical fireworks display and a countdown at the Sta. Cruz Plaza in front of the North Gate of Ongpin Street.
