A 6.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Calatagan, Batangas at 10:19am on Thursday, with shocks felt in Metro Manila and various parts of Luzon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Intensity IV was felt in Quezon City, Phivolcs said. Intensity IV is characterized as moderately strong, felt by people indoors and some outdoors.
The epicenter of the quake was pinpointed at four kilometers southwest of Calatagan, with a depth of 103 kilometers.
People in various schools and offices in the metro were evacuated to open areas.
Possible aftershocks and damages are expected.
