You can’t make this up.
“A 17-year-old shop helper identified only as Rosel is accusing a 55-year-old Singaporean man named Neon Soon — who is billeted in a hotel in Malate, Manila — of harassing her because she rejected his romantic intentions early this month,” reports Jenny F. Manongdo in Tempo.
The report noted: “Soon has been giving her food every day since they met at Harrison Plaza in Malate early this month. The Singaporean asked Rosel to introduce him to her parents which she obliged on February 9.”
Then it’s gets kinda weird.
Below is an excerpt of Rosel’s testimony:
I brought him to our house and he saw how small our house is. He promised to buy us a double deck (bed) and he also told my mother that he will open a bank account for her. He also promised to install cable services in our home.
He also asked me to stop working and he said he would just pay me my daily salary which is PHP150. He said he would pay the rental fee in our home. He said he would bring groceries whenever he would visit me in my work so that my siblings would always have food to eat. He also told me to inform him whenever I don’t have money.
[When I told him the price of the double deck bed,] he told me that he is not stupid and he knows the price of the bed. I felt angry at him and told him not to text me anymore if he thinks that I am only after his money. Because of that, he got angry at me and he is demanding me to return every single centavo that he spent for me.
The report revealed that “Rosel said she started ignoring Soon’s calls and text messages after the spat, but he warned her that he would embarrass her in front of her colleagues if she continued to ignore him. Concerned about her safety, Rosel reported the matter to the police.”
Thus, on Feb 12, Soon was arrested by policemen as he waited in front of the store where Rosel works.
