50 women rescued from high-end KTV bar in Malate

The number of the women alone is enough to shock us.

“National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operatives rescued around 50 Filipino and foreign females were rescued from a high-end KTV bar in Malate, Manila before dawn on Thursday, October 9,” reports Francis Faulve on ABS-CBNnews.com.

The NBI said “at least 10 of the rescued females are believed to be minors.” Some of the women were allegedly being peddled for sex.

The report did not mention the name of the bar.

The report noted: “The KTV bar caters to high-rolling foreigners—mostly Koreans and Chinese—who are willing to spend huge sums for food and drinks.”

However, the report also said that “the foreigners who were present in the VIP rooms criticized the raid, with one Chinese national claiming that his wife was one of the women apprehended by NBI agents.”

Still, the NBI said “the KTV bar’s owner and employees will be charged with child abuse and human trafficking.”
