There’s hope for us yet. (That is, if this reform is for real and not just for show.)
“A message from the office of traffic czar and Manila Vice Mayor Francisco Domagoso, who’s more popularly known as former actor Isko Moreno, announced that they have dismissed 50 traffic aide volunteers from the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) who were found guilty of extortion,” reports Jenny F. Manongdo in Tempo.
Domagoso stated, “We want the public to know that we don’t tolerate abusive and inefficient traffic enforcers. We are strictly implementing the one-strike policy against extortion.”
The Manila vice mayor’s office has also posted a list of the names of the MTPB Traffic Enforcers that have been dismissed/terminated from service for various grounds, among them, abuse of authority, gross negligence, bribery (“kotong”), and other offenses.
