50 cargo containers of hospital waste leaking at Manila port

It doesn’t matter where it comes from—the stink is universal.

“About 50 cargo containers filled with hospital waste from Canada have started to leak at the Manila International Container Port,” reports Vito Barcelo in Manila Standard Today.

Bureau of Customs (BOC) Police chief Marlon Alameda explained: “The shipments were declared as recyclable plastics but they turned out to be hospital waste such as used syringes, soiled adult diapers, medical plastic gloves, plastic bags, bottles, newspaper, and even household garbage.”

He added, “We have sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation to look for the officials of Chronic Plastics who are missing and cannot be located at the their address after the shipments were found to contain hazardous waste,”

The report noted, thought, that the Canadian Embassy is coordinating with the BOC for immediate reshipment to the port of origin.

But what if it’s too late by then?
