A five-year-old boy and two girls aged 14 and 13 were caught in the middle of a drug bust in Quezon City on Tue night, Apr 21. The bust involved shabu worth PHP2.5 million.
“Police identified the two adult suspects as Abdul Abbas Batugan, 25, and his wife Nasimah Abedin. The boy and the teen girls are Abedin’s nephew and nieces,” reports Francis Wakefield in Tempo.
The report noted: “The kids were all turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) while Batugan and Abedin were brought to the DAID-SOTG jail facility in Camp Karingal.”
According to Chief Inspector Roberto Razon Sr., “the suspects were nabbed at 11:55 p.m. on Tuesday along Quirino Highway near the corner of Commonwealth Avenue, Barangay Kaligayahan, Quezon City.”
Razon explained that “a police poseur-buyer bought 50 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP50,000 from one of the suspects inside a Toyota Corolla (UHV-692).”
Shortly after the transaction, police operatives arrested the suspects and confiscated 14 other transparent plastic packs containing suspected shabu.
Razon added, “the suspects get their supply of illegal drugs in Caloocan City and distribute it in Fairview, Quezon City.”
