Five members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were killed in an ambush today at noon in Barangay (village) Malna, in the town of Kapai in Lanao del Sur.
The fatalities were identified by ABS-CBN as Kenneth Tabulo, Kristine Mae Torlao, Lores Joy Amar, and Binzo Dipolla, all of whom were declared dead on arrival. The fifth victim, Diobel Pacinio, died while undergoing treatment.
According to GMA News, the ambush left two people wounded: PDEA agent Rachel Gentapanan and an officer of the Tagoloan Municipal Police Station named Normina Dicay.
SunStar reported that the victims were attacked while they were on board a van that was going to Marawi City. They came from the town of Tagoloan when they were ambushed by an unidentified number of suspects.
Police from Tagoloan and Kapai pursued the suspects. There have been no reports yet if the suspects have been caught.
