Today’s Irony Award goes to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), which subjected its very own people to impromptu drug tests.
“Right after the flag-raising ceremony on Monday, Nov 11, 465 organic PDEA personnel were subjected to a surprise drug test at the PDEA national headquarters in Quezon City,” reports Dennis Carcamo in The Philippine Star.
One minute they were singing the national anthem and the next minute they were asked to give urine samples to the PDEA Laboratory Service.
Then again, the employees couldn’t complain, as PDEA officials were also reportedly given surprise drug tests last Nov 6. PDEA said the move was one of the steps they were taking in “cleansing” their ranks.
