Let’s hope everyone heeds the ban.
“The Philippine National Police reminded the public that the 45-day nationwide gun ban will be imposed starting tomorrow, Jan. 22, in connection with the upcoming Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.
The report explained: “The law mandates for the gun ban to be enforced 30 days before the election and 15 days after the polls.”
The SK elections will be held on February 21.
During the said period, the PNP said that the Permit to Carry Firearms Outside Residence (PTCFOR) will be temporarily suspended.
Only soldiers and uniformed policemen who are on duty are exempted from the gun ban. Meanwhile, civilians who wish to get exempted from the gun ban would have to apply for one before the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
