400 military personnel to help PNP in 18-hour Black Nazarene procession

If it’s possible, stay away from Manila on Thursday, January 9. Unless, like the police, you’ll be working that day.

“Around 400 military personnel will assist the Philippine National Police (PNP) in securing the yearly Black Nazarene procession on Thursday, January 9, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on Wednesday, Jan 8,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.

Meanwhile, the report said that “the National Capital Region Police Office had said that it has yet to receive information of any group threatening to disrupt the conduct of the procession, which Church officials expect to last for 18 hours due to the rerouting of its path.” The route will now skip MacArthur Bridge and take Jones Bridge instead.
