A four-year-old girl was hacked dead while her older sister was wounded after being attacked by an unidentified suspect inside their house in Anda, Pangasinan last Tue, Sep 8.
Police said Arlyn Carase, 4, was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital after sustaining wounds on the head and neck. Her older sister, Marvilyn, 11, also sustained wounds on her head but survived.
Inspector Freddie Lorenzo of Anda police said a neighbor first heard someone crying inside the Carase household in Barangay Sablig Tuesday night.
“Dahil sa unusual na ano yung iyak nakaka-attract ng pansin dahil doon sa brownout din dahil pumutok isang transformer doon. Humingi siya ng tulong sa bayaw. Inilawan nila. Nakita nila yung bata sa higaan na duguan at umiyak pa rin yung isa (The neighbor thought the child’s cry was unusual. It really attracted attention because there was no power at that time. A transformer had exploded. The neighbors went to the house and saw the kids bleeding on the bed. One kid was crying),” he said.
The father of the victims, identified as Virgilio Carase, said he was shocked by the incident, saying he does not have any enemies.
The older victim is already out of the hospital and is being kept away from their home for her protection. Authorities added that she will undergo counselling.
The police official also reminded parents not to leave their children unattended whenever they go out.
Police are still investigating the incident.
