4 inmates use forks and spoons to try to break out of Koronadal City jail cell

Four inmates at a police detention facility in Koronadal City, South Cotabato tried to break out of their concrete cell using spoons and forks. The foiled escape try prompted the city police to temporarily close the detention facility to visitors.

“Superintendent Barney Condes, chief of the Koronadal City police, said the four male inmates were immediately transferred to a maximum security cell,” reports John Unson on Philstar.com.

The report noted: “The suspects are being prosecuted for the large-scale peddling of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu in different barangays in Koronadal City. They allegedly belong to one of a dozen local drug rings.”

Condes revealed that “policemen guarding the detention facility learned of the group’s escape plot from other inmates.”

In fact, the four inmates were caught in the act of punching a hole on one side of their cell using spoons and forks.
