These criminals sure are brazen.
The alleged leader of a gun-for-hire group and his three companions were killed in the early hours of Sun, Feb 21, in a shootout with police officers in Quezon City.
According to Senior Superintendent Ronald Lee of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, they had received information that the group, led by Recto Piadozo, was planning a hit.
The police “waited for two days until the suspects were spotted sometime past 3am…in front of a restaurant along Katipunan Avenue waiting for their target,” reports Non Alquitran in The Philippine Star.
But instead of surrendering, Piadozo “got out of a Honda Accord (UHS 888) and fired at the policemen, prompting them to return fire.”
“Piadozo died at the scene, while the bodies of his two companions were recovered in the car, while the fourth suspect was declared dead on arrival at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center,” according to the report.
Police recovered from the suspects two .45-caliber pistols, a 9mm pistol, a hand grenade and a fan knife.
