3-year-old gets stuck hanging from Quiapo hotel’s fire escape ladder

Kids do the darndest things.

“At around 1pm on Tuesday, Mar 11, the parents of a three-year-old girl were shocked to find out that she had actually gotten stuck hanging from the fire escape ladder of the Citystate Hotel in Quiapo, Manila,” report dzMM correspondent Zhander Cayabyab and ABS-CBN News correspondent Niko Baua.

According to hotel supervisor Willy Cansino, the girl and her family had checked into the hotel earlier that day. He added that the girl and her four-year-old brother may have gone to the building’s fire exit while playing and climbed up to the hotel’s 12th floor. However, he theorized, the girl might have tried to go down a metal ladder after they were trapped on top of the hotel. Her brother, on the other hand, didn’t attempt to go down the ladder.

Hotel personnel were alerted about the girl’s situation by Barangay 306 officials, whom people had alerted about the girl’s predicament. The report said that “the hotel management removed the ladder after the girl was rescued by the barangay officials.”

The girl’s parents declined to comment on the incident, saying only that they blamed their kids’ nanny for what happened. They then checked out of the hotel shortly after the girl got rescued.
