Do people drive around Metro Manila with guns?
“Three people, including a businessman, were wounded when they traded shots after a traffic altercation in Mandaluyong City — specifically the northbound lane of Edsa in Barangay Barangka Itaas — at around 5:50am on Sunday, Dec 29,” reports Kristine Felisse Mangunay in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
According to police reports, here’s how it happened:
First, a Honda Accord driven by Exequiel Adora was rear-ended by a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by Jason Emralino, a businessman.
Adora, who’s identified as the owner of Majestic Security Agency, had been traveling with his employees Jomar Balanlay and Reneboy Adora.
Then, the men started arguing about (presumably) whose fault it was. Soon enough, shots were fired.
The report revealed: “Emralino remains in critical condition at the Lung Center of the Philippines in Quezon City for a gunshot wound in the chest while Balanlay is at Ospital ng Makati for gunshot wounds in the arms.” Meanwhile, Exequiel Adora was also confined at Ospital ng Makati after he was shot in the arms and body. Only Reneboy Adora was unscathed.
Police said it’s unclear who among the four went ballistic first. All the police know for sure is that they found a .45-cal. pistol, a 9mm pistol and several shells at the scene. It turned out that the .45-cal. pistol was registered to Exequiel Adora while the 9mm pistol was Emralino’s.
