The pressure is on for the Philippine government to nab the people who allegedly duped Mary Jane Veloso into carrying a bag that had a package of heroin sewn inside it in 2010.
“The Department of Justice (DOJ) will hold preliminary investigation hearings in May on the criminal raps against Veloso’s recruiters,” reports Ina Reformina on ABS-CBNnews.com.
Aside from Maria Krisina P. Sergio — who also goes by the name “Mary Christine Gulles Pasadilla” — two others were also named as respondents in the complaint filed by Veloso, through the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTRAD).
The complaint will be handled by Assistant State Prosecutor Susan Azarcon.
The report didn’t name the two other respondents. It only indicated that one of the respondents is a man of African descent.
Meanwhile, the DOJ has revealed that Sergio is facing charges for human trafficking, illegal recruitment, and estafa. The hearings for her cases will be heard on May 8 and May 14.
