3 hurt in grenade attack at Smokey Mountain police precinct

Is this the latest criminal hobby in Metro Manila?

“At 2:25am on Thursday, Mar 20, a still unidentified person threw a grenade lobbed at the Smokey Mountain police precinct in Manila,” reports Aie Balagtas See and Rey Galupo in The Philippine Star.

According to the report, barangay tanod Serdan Damca, scavenger Rene Gallarona, and pedicab driver Ferdie dela Cruz sustained shrapnel wounds and were taken to the Tondo Medical Hospital.

A Malabon City police car was also damaged in the explosion. Fortunately, no police officer was hurt.

Investigators suspect that the attack was supposedly done to get back at the police for shooting dead a murder suspect named Ramiro “Badjao” Nicolas.

Nicolas and his friend, John Mark Mendoza, were wanted for allegedly killing Fedy Genobisa. Mendoza is still at large.
