Three children aged between seven to 10 years old were massacred by still-unidentified suspects inside their house in Lipa City early Sun morning, Jul 26, police said.
Superintendent Carlos Barde, police chief of Lipa City, identified the victims as Princess Oliveros, 10, her brother Prince Andrae Oliveros, 7, and cousin Joyce Ann Oliveros, 8.
According to the police report, the victims were found dead inside their bedroom at Harold Villalobos Apartment in San Nicolas St., Barangay Balintawak by their uncle, Arthur Cunanan, at around 6:30 a.m.
Barde said the children could have died due to head injuries after being hit with a hard object.
Investigations revealed that the grandmother of the children, Sefty Jane Oliveros, and grandfather, Alexander, left the house around 1:30 a.m. to sell their merchandise at the Lipa Public Market, leaving the children by themselves sleeping inside their room.
“Sinabihan ko pa nga si Princess na i-lock ang pinto bago kami umalis, tapos nung bumalik ang tiyo nilang si Arthur para dalhan sila ng pagkain nung umaga, doon natagpuan ang mga bata na patay na sa loob ng kanilang kwarto,” said the grandmother.
Sefty said she has no known enemies who would do the heinous crime.
She admitted in an interview with ABS-CBN News, however, that she berated three young men in their neighborhood before the massacre happened, but refused to identify the three for fear of reprisal.
Scene of the Crime Operatives are still investigating the crime to identify the killers and the motive behind the killing.
