Some 2,700 policemen who have been trained in water search and rescue have been deployed all over the metropolis and area ready to respond to emergencies brought about by rains and floods.
According to GMA News, the water safety police personnel have also been trained in boat handling and are also equipped with paramedic and first-aid skills.
In Quezon City, police officers took part in the water drill at the Lamesa Dam. During the Disaster Preparedness Week activities, the police officers displayed their ability to rescue flood victims. PAGASA, the state weather forecas bureau, has officially declared the start of the rainy season on Monday. Over the past few days thunderstorms have brought heavy rains and flash floods to several areas in the metropolis.
