23 drug dealers, users caught in raid of Banana Island in Intramuros

Have you ever gone to Banana Island in Intramuros?

Apparently, the moniker refers to an area along Legazpi Street in Barangay 654, Zone 69, District V. That’s where police caught 23 suspected drug users and dealers during an early-morning drug bust by the Manila Police District in Intramuros, Manila, on Friday, Jan 24.

“The raid was conducted as a follow-up operation on the murder of the three men—identified only through their aliases Michael Kabayo, Toto, and Baby Mata—whose bodies were found inside a tricycle near the National Museum on Thursday morning, Jan 23,” reports Maricar B. Brizuela in the Philippine Daily Inquirer

According to Ermita police station Chief Supt. Alejandro Yanquiling, they had received information that the victims had been at the corner of P. Burgos on the evening of Jan 24 because they were supposed to buy shabu from a group of drug pushers from Intramuros.

Instead, the drug dealers just took the victims’ supposed payment for the drugs and then killed them.
