Controversy is all part of the game.

A 22-year-old Ateneo alumni was arrested by police officers for allegedly trying to extort money from Alab Pilipinas guard and former Ateneo basketball star Kiefer Ravena, who was recently involved in a social media “sexting” scandal involving private photos.

The Philippine National Police Anti-Cyber Crime Group has caught Kristoffer Monico Ng of Pasig City in an entrapment operation. Ng was accused of peddling information in exchange for money.

According to Ravena, Ng attempted to “leak” photos and “tried to extort money form us.”

“Now that we have the first suspect under the PNP’s custody, we hope to get more leads and information so justice will be served, and harassment and blackmailing such as this would end,” Ravena said in a report by ABS-CBN News.

“The suspect, meanwhile, claimed that he merely offered information in exchange of money but denied taking the video or posting it on social media,” said the report.

Ng is facing charges of robbery and extortion.
