A Filipino-American was among 500 people injured in a shooting rampage on the Las Vegas strip, considered the worst gun attack in modern US history, his family said.
Las Vegas-born Arthur “Arty” Andrade, 21, was on a double-date with his girlfriend, his friend and the latter’s girlfriend when he was shot in the stomach, his family confirmed to ABS-CBN News.
Andrade underwent surgery and is confined at a local hospital, according to his family.
At least 59 people died in the attack, which ended after the 64-year-old gunman, Stephen Paddock, killed himself.
The barrage of gunfire from the 32nd-floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel into a crowd of 22,000 people came in extended bursts that lasted several minutes, sparking panic as throngs of music fans desperately cowered on the open ground, hemmed in by fellow concertgoers, while others at the edge tried to flee.
Las Vegas is home to some 120,000 Filipinos, the Philippine General Consulate in Los Angeles, California said.
