It’s that time of year again!
Thousands of aspiring lawyers will finally find out if they can now be called “attorney.”
The results of the 2016 Bar exams will be released by the Supreme Court today, May 3, Manila Bulletin reports. The list of passers may be viewed on a widescreen at the Supreme Court or at the SC website.
Some 6,344 law graduates took the examinations in November last year at the University of Santo Tomas.
The Philippine Bar exam has a reputation for being one of the toughest in the world. It covers eight subjects spread over four Sundays — Political Law, Civil Law, Taxation, Labor Law, Criminal Law, Remedial Law, Mercantile Law, and Legal and Judicial Ethics.
According to the latest update by CNN Philippines, 3,747 or 59.06 percent passed the 2016 examinations. It is the highest passing rate in 16 years.
The topnotcher Karen Mae Calam, who scored 89.05 percent, hails from the University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu.
The top 10 examinees all came from provincial schools.
The new lawyers will take their oath on May 22 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
