A toddler in his terrible twos has been included in a list of people who were accused of helping the Maute terror group in the recent attacks in Marawi.

The lookout list contained names of 18 people, including a 2- year-old boy born on September 20, 2014. They all have the surname “Maute.”

The boy, their mother, and 16 of their relatives on Wednesday went to the National Bureau of Investigations (NBI) to clear their names. A 10-year-old boy was also included in the list, reports the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said he ordered the NBI to verify their identities and confirm that they are not related to the terrorist group.

“The mandate of our office has been to give free legal assistance to clear their names and that they are not with the Maute fighters,” said National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) South Luzon Regional Director, Dalomilang Parahiman in a report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Paramihan added that he is related to some people on the list.

“They are law-abiding citizens. Their only crime is their surname is Maute,” he assured, adding that these Mautes have been living in Manila for more than three decades.
