If anyone needs proof on how basketball-crazy Pinoys can get, they can go to Caloocan. So far, it’s the only place we know of that’s planning to put up a “a two-storey public market with a full-size basketball court on the upper level.”
Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan disclosed that the market is envisioned for Barangay 176 in Bagong Silang. Aside from the basketball court, Malapitan said the market will also boast of “other amenities.”
“The mayor also revealed that a three-storey building for the new Poblacion Public Market on 10th Avenue is targeted for opening next year,” reports June David in Manila Standard Today.
Malapitan is reportedly making it his priority to rehabilitate Caloocan’s public markets.
Just one question: Will they all have basketball courts?
