Metta World Peace — the U.S. basketball player who was formerly known as Ron Artest — caused the Philippine basketball rumor mill to on overdrive after he mentioned in a tweet that he would be in the “Philippine basketball league” soon.
Many pundits pointed out that Artest actually meant the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
“PBA import agent Sheryl Reyes has reportedly been given the go-signal by World Peace’s business manager Heidi Buech, President of Artest Management Group, to speak on their behalf,” reports Alder Almo on Philstar.com.
Reyes “confirmed to Philstar.com that World Peace will be available to fly by February and can play as a replacement import.”
Reyes revealed, “Two top teams are interested [in] him for the PBA. Kia Motors is not one of them. But his schedule is the issue since his team won’t be done playing in the CBA till first week of February.”
The report noted: “Reyes has been speaking with Buech since her trip to the United States a few weeks ago to scout imports for the PBA.”
