With friends like these, you’ll always have company in jail.
Virgilio Sembrano, 46, and Ernesto Ordez, 44, were arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe policemen in exchange for the release of their friend, Jonathan Gagampang, 41, who was caught in possession of illegal drugs and a knife in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa, Quezon City.
“Police were patrolling Road 3, Brgy. Bagong Pag-asa at 6:10pm when they chanced upon Gagampang, who was then riding a tricycle, with a fan knife tucked in his waist. They flagged down the tricycle and confiscated Gagampang’s knife. They also found two sachets of shabu in the suspect’s pockets, causing his immediate arrest,” reports Vanne Elaine P. Terrazola in Tempo.
Sembrano and Ordez came to the police precinct around 7:45pm and tried to talk with the cops to drop the charges against Gagampang in exchange for PHP5,000 cash. At this point, the cops arrested them, too.
Sembrano and Ordez will be charged with corruption of public officials.
